A VPN Project by Donal Fahy

The IrishVPN Project was a VPN tunnel through Ireland.

IrishVPN started as a personal VPN server for travelling and privacy. The connection quality while abroad was impressive so I created this website to make it available for others to use. After successful operation for several months, I took down the service. It was an enjoyable learning exercise but not a profitable venture. I could have addressed the main cybersecurity concern regarding IP address misuse by investing in a business broadband package. However, the investment and compliance challenges were not worth the risk given the low consumer interest and already saturated VPN provider market.

No custom VPN application required. Use any WireGuard-compatible client.

What is this?

A VPN project, not a VPN business.

This project exists primarily because I wanted to experiment with running VPN infrastructure and making it usable by other people. It was a worthwhile technical challenge that required cybersecurity and software development skills.

Want to use it?

Try the VPN tunnel.

Registration is available for anyone who wants to experiment with the service or needs a VPN exit point located in Ireland.
